Reflection is a central theme within our first module, and I must express my deepest gratitude for this process.
Reflecting on my life's work, how it shaped me, my resilience as an artist (especially in these times of uncertainty for our industry), and recognizing my experiential learnings has been a fulfilling task. Definitely daunting at times, and a few tears shed when I felt lost and did not know which way to go, but now that the drafts are in, I have time to appreciate the journey thus far.
I must send gratitude to the people who provide for us on this journey. Thank you to the amazing LET and AWL teams for their guidance and helpful online materials. If you have not already done so, book a tutorial for your essay with the creative arts team. I know I have far to go before my academic writing and referencing become proficient, yet I have a sense of relief knowing help is there when I need it from many sources. Helen, our always pleasant and insightful leader, has a way of framing things, generally in question format, to tidy up loose ends and lend light in the dark. Thank you for your dedication to the expansion of knowledge.
As I move into choreography for various events and help students return to the studio once more (visualize a hands-in-the-air celebration emoji here), I feel energized.
Perhaps it was Imam Ali, Sir Francis Bacon, or Thomas Hobbes who said it first and then made popular by Thomas Jefferson? Although the originator of the phrase is uncertain, it continues to hold truth: knowledge is power.
Reflection on that knowledge feels empowering.
I have deep gratitude too for this experience Sheahan. I am glad that the time has been fulfilling for you, the pandemic has had many silver linings.
ReplyDeleteI am yet to find where I stand with my writing, I hope my meeting tomorrow will help. Thank you for the tip re creative arts team - I thought the help was purely for our writing, I must read the handbooks again.
All best with your return to the studio, that certainly is a ‘biggie’.
I like your phrase, thank you for sharing. This one is keeping me going at the moment “If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way." - Napoleon Hill
